It's the best thing! I went to a 4 day crop and at least 40 people ordered it before we left. I have that but no longer use it as I have no cartridges They just updated the software so it works with the newest design studio, if you use that. I sold my cartridges, its very easy to use and there are NO issues! I use it with my expression and it works great. I pasted my comments from the other SCAL post. Yeah, it's cool cutting from the carts, but it's even cooler getting to cut any font I want, welding the words together, or cutting awesome flourishes from a dingbat. That said, I've got SCAL installed and have had a chance to play with it, and it's amazing. If you're like me, and only have the original carts and no plans to use DS anyway, it won't matter
if you have the new DS installed, than SCAL won't be compatible. SCAL hasn't been upgraded yet, so needs to have the old firmware on your Cricut to work. The biggest problem anyone's having right now, is from those who use design studio and have newer carts that need the latest DS upgrade. I haven't read anything but good reviews from people using the program. I did ten tons of research before taking the plunge. It doesn't change anything in your Cricut, it only communicates with it. It's like hooking up a camera or other 3rd party software to your computer.
but they really can't tell if you used SCAL with it unless you tell them. Yes, Provo Craft does say that it will void your warranty. I can't afford to buy carts all the time, but I have hundreds of great fonts/dingbats on my computer already. I wouldn't have bothered with the Cricut if it weren't for SCAL, to be honest. I just bought a Cricut (the baby one), and SCAL to go with it.
